IAP2 Canada Mentorship Program

Are you a new or aspiring public engagement practitioner, looking to develop your P2 skills beyond the IAP2 Certificate Program? Or maybe you’re a seasoned practitioner looking to share your experiences and give back to the public engagement profession. Either way, if you’re interested in continuing learning, growing your network, and building strong relationships with other P2 professionals, you may be interested in the new IAP2 Canada Mentorship Program.

At IAP2 Canada, we’re constantly looking for new and better ways to provide value to our members. This fall, we’re hoping to bring you a six-month pilot mentorship program, pairing new and seasoned practitioners in one-on-one relationships to build networks, grow professional capacity, and have fun. This is a new endeavor for IAP2 Canada, so we’re interested in getting your ideas and feedback as we develop this new offering for members.

If you’re interested in potentially being a mentor or mentee, please email info@iap2canada.ca noting your interest by August 25th. Because this is a pilot program, we’ll only be accepting a limited number of participants. At the close of the pilot in March 2013, we’ll do an evaluation of the program to make sure we develop the best long-term program possible. The mentorship program will be open to members only and there will be a fee for mentees that will go toward administration of the program. Mentors will be expected to have a strong background in public engagement (5+ years), and to have demonstrated a commitment to IAP2’s Core Values and Code of Ethics. It’s our hope that this program will be a value-added service to both mentors and mentees, strengthen IAP2 Canada’s networks across the country, and increase overall capacity in the professional of public engagement.
