The Office of the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer is looking for a temporary full time Community Relations Coordinator to join the Communications and Engagement division for approximately two years.

The Community Relations Coordinator will support the City’s commitment to delivering projects by building trust with the community, increasing transparency, and improving access to local government. This position is part of a strong team with a service-driven culture where each day presents fresh challenges and opportunities to tangibly impact the lives of City of North Vancouver’s residents, businesses, partners and visitors. In this exciting new position, you will act as a key interface between members of the public and Engineering, Parks and Environment teams engaged in major infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Manager of Civic Engagement, you will:

  • Build and maintain a database of interest holder organizations;
  • Help maintain proactive updates on major projects using listservs, mailouts, email and newsletters;
  • Implement community relations plans and notification strategies for major projects that prioritize timely and transparent outreach and address community concerns and questions;
  • Develop tactics to improve the City’s capacity to engage in an equitable and inclusive manner ensuring we can address barriers to reaching everyone;
  • Design, organize, and facilitate community meetings with members of the public to network and build positive working relationships;
  • Prepare reports, correspondence and other documents to support community updates;
  • Cultivate a strong and up-to-date body of knowledge of City initiatives;
  • Use customer service skills to resolve issues quickly; and
  • Liaise with communications team members on the creation of various tools to inform the public about key initiatives, their expected impacts and the opportunities for public involvement.
