    FCM is looking for a consultant to develop guidance documents and deliver training sessions that will support FCM Programs in using online tools and techniques to reach our capacity development objectives. The primary task of this work is to develop guidance documents and deliver training sessions that articulate how FCMP can use online tools and techniques to reach our capacity development objectives. The assistance provided will draw on adult learning principles and proven best practices for online learning and engagement.

    The consultant is expected to begin July 20th and complete the work by September 20th.

    The successful applicant will be skilled in adult learning in a virtual context, with demonstrated experience in developing and adapting learning and capacity development activities to a virtual context. Experience with the international NGO/not-for-profit or municipal sector is preferred. Proficiency in English is essential; additional proficiency in French is strongly preferred. Given the current context of COVID-19 pandemic, this consultancy will be performed remotely.

    Interested applicants are asked to provide a 3-5 page proposal including 1) summary of experience, 2) brief overview of the suggested approach to this mandate, 3) level of effort (in consultancy days), 4) timeline, and 5) budget.

    The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation invites applications for the position of ICEDO - Economic Projects Manager in Inuvik. Reporting to the Director of Innovation, Science and Climate Change, the Economic Projects Manager is responsible for enhancing community entrepreneurial capacity, community business development and specific community projects in the Inuvialuit Settlement Region (ISR). The ICEDO Economic Projects Manager provides advice on, applies for, and liaises with the proponents of government programs aimed at advancing business development opportunities.

    Main Responsibilities: 

    • Responsible for working with the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) on core funding and other programs.
    • Responsible for attending key meetings with government stakeholders, as agreed with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC) and representing Inuvialuit interests.
    • Facilitate and review business plans for community ventures and programs, assist in the search and acquisition of funds to advance community ventures.
    • Provide information to the Inuvialuit about government programs that can assist them in building the capacity to pursue and develop community based economic development opportunities.
    • Provide assistance in all aspects of Inuvialuit economic development including ICEDO office management, proposal writing, budget planning and administration.
    • Management ICEDO programs such as enhancing traditional economies, development of entrepreneurial training programs, small business support, leveraging tourism readiness and collaborating on food security initiatives.

    The ideal candidate will have the following combination of education, experience and knowledge:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in economic development.
    • At least 5 years Project Management experience.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
    • Experience in business development specifically related to small business.
    • Direct supervisory experience will be an asset.
    • Experience in a cross-cultural work environment.
    • Business planning and forecasting
    • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
    • Knowledge of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement, the Inuvialuit Settlement Region.
    • Basic computer skills using word processing, accounting, spreadsheets and database packages.

    Priority consideration will be given to beneficiaries of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement.

    To help build a stronger understanding of and national consensus on federalism in Somalia, CDI and FOF intend to develop a series of “Discussion Papers” (currently planned to be in a Q&A format). These are to be developed with inputs from federal governance subject matter experts but with the principal focus to be on the actual debates, issues, concerns and aspirations of Somalis. To ensure that the papers are grounded in the realities of Somalia, and to maximize their potential impact on political discourse and future negotiations, the consultation dimension of this work is as important as the subject matter content. Working with the project team, the role of the Consultant is to lead the design of a consultations plan and support its implementation. This aims to ensure proper application of the most appropriate, state-of-the-art methods for consultations with important stakeholders involved in federal governance debates in Somalia.  This assignment does not entail travel to Somalia and is expected to be conducted remotely (ie, using email, Google Docs, Zoom, etc.).

    The Senior Communications Specialist, Community Affairs is responsible for developing and implementing a wide range of communications and community affairs strategies to support BC Housing’s corporate priorities.
