Two more Core Values Award winners will be featured in February -- both of which have focused on cultural transformation.

Over the past couple of years, the City of Calgary launched an initiative to bring its workforce together, making the workers more involved in the process and cross-utilizing resources and talents. The Corporate Cultural Transformation Project led to a shift in thinking across the organization, and earned the 2014 IAP2 Canada Core Values Award for Organization of the Year. One of the judges commented that this "changed the organization’s culture to one of a citizen-focused, collaborative and more transparent government."

Project leader David Plouffe, will discuss how it was designed and implemented, the challenges they faced and the solutions they used.

We will also hear from Carolyn Lukensmeyer of the National Institute for Civil Discourse in the US. She co-led the "Creating Community Solutions Alliance", which grew out of President Obama's call for a "national conversation to increase understanding about mental health". This followed the horrific shootings at an elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2013. "Creating Community Solutions" and its "Text. Talk. Act." initiative received the IAP2 USA Core Values Award for Project of the Year in 2014. The CVA judges called it "an excellent effort to draw in the population with mental health issues themselves -- not just experts."
