Have you ever been faced with a situation where people are uncertain about -- or even hostile towards -- a P2 process? Have you felt like you're fighting the Establishment -- even when you're working for the Establishment? This Webinar will look at two organizations which did just that -- and came out ahead.
The City of Victoria and the St Vrain Valley Public School District, based in Longmont, Colorado, won the 2016 IAP2 Core Values Awards for Organization of the Year, and they will join us on January 13 to share how they accomplished their goals, going through rapid and radical transformations in their respective cultures in the process.
The City of Victoria was honoured for "Foundations for Success", a project that took the City from a "no-engagement" culture to one that features a diverse team of engagement experts not just in the department but throughout the organization. Through focus groups, pop-up sessions, internal "great ideas sessions" and plain-language communications tools, the transformation has happened in just under a decade.
The St Vrain Valley Public School District
, based in Longmont, Colorado, received the nod from IAP2 USA fore "Embracing Public Participation: a whole-systems approach to organizational change". The District (which also won "Research Project of the Year" honours in 2014) promotes a program of engaging parents and ordinary citizens in planning educational services. In so doing, district administrators had to overcome resistance from "legacy staff" -- professionals in the field who tended to discount the involvement of non-professionals.
What approaches did they use? What new ground did they break? How did they address concerns and prejudices both internal and external? With the application period opening this spring for the 2016 IAP2 Core Values Awards, this is an excellent opportunity for you to take a look at projects you're working on, to see how you can "kick it up a notch" and produce an award-winning effort for both yourself and your clients.
You can read more about the 2015 Core Values Awards here, and read about Core Values Awards winners from around the IAP2 Federation over the years, here.
Come join us on Wednesday, January 13, at 2pm Eastern (11am Pacific) to learn more about how they did it and take part in a panel-discussion format on how to apply those lessons in your own work.
