Amanda Mitchell has over fifteen years of experience designing public engagement processes that meaningfully involve the public in policy decisions. Her work is creative and attention-getting while also strategic and results-oriented. She thrives helping engagement practitioners fine-tune their skills.
Amanda is passionate about cities and the bulk of her experience has been with local governments. At the City of Vancouver, Amanda has worked with staff to increase their skills and confidence for public engagement. She has provided strategic advice on process design and implementation on over 75 projects from neighborhood land use plans to City-wide strategic plans like the Greenest City Action Plan.
As a trainer, Amanda creates a learning environment that is relevant, experiential and draws on the experience in the room. Learning is cemented through reflections and case study exercises. She draws on stories and uses humour and a variety of teaching methods to keep things fresh. Amanda has led trainings in Vancouver, North America, and Scandinavia.
