IAP2 BC Chapter Spring Symposium: Creative Engagement
The faces engaged in public participation are ever changing and so too are the tools we rely upon as practitioners. At some point in our practise we are all faced with opportunities to engage youth and or multicultural groups in a public participation process. For some this can either be a daunting or exciting experience. So what tools can we as practitioners successfully use to draw from the wealth of knowledge and experience these very diverse groups can provide?
Creative Engagement is the theme of the 2012 IAP2 BC Spring Symposium and the goal is to creatively answer these questions;
We all do it on a regular basis, hire a minute taker to methodically capture verbatim every word spoken during a consultation process, but what if this can be done in a creative and interactive manner?
Whether now or in the future, most projects will either directly or indirectly impact today’s generation of youth, so how can we engage them in ways that are interactive and productive?
The language barrier can often times be a significant challenge to overcome, however living in a culturally diverse country provides valuable opportunities to learn from those who are often times silent due to this barrier?
This full day of interactive engagement and discussion is guaranteed to provide many valuable tools that can be added to ones public participation kit.
