Mary Moreland has been a bilingual trainer for IAP2’s certificate courses since 2005. A former career public servant with Canada’s federal government, she has more than 20 years of experience contributing to national initiatives such as the creation of the Canadian Biotechnology Advisory Committee; the National Innovation and Learning Engagement Strategy; and coordinating outreach activities at the UN Climate Change Conference in Montreal.
Important to Mary’s evolving public participation practice has been adapting Design Thinking engagement methods to regulatory, program and policy projects, with a particular emphasis on how to improve the delivery of services to Canadians, residents, or industry. To cap off this introduction, an important part of IAP2’s training for Mary is the opportunity to learn from participants as they share their experiences or reflect on how they might improve their engagements from what they are learning from their IAP2 courses and from their peers.
